Adobe "Attach to Email" not working... does not find office

    Question

  • Hi All,

We have Office 2010 Pro Plus virtualized and works perfectly. Have used the accelerator package so all proxies are installed and licencing correct.

However, we cannot "Attach to Email" from Adobe Reader X (virtualized) or Adobe Acrobat 9 (not virtualized).

I can confirm that the Microsoft Virtual Office Simple MAPI Proxy Server is working, as we can Send To -> Mail Recipient from explorer, which launches a new email with the attachment in virtualized Outlook 2010. I have also tried using the Dynamic Suite Tool to link Adobe Reader and Office 2010, but it made no difference. All apps are 32-bit.

We get the following error when trying to attach to email from either adobe product:

"There is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."

    Please advise,

    Regards,

    James

  • Hello,

The app-v deployment kit for Office 2010 doesn't lay down any registry keys for Extended MAPI, which Adobe Reader uses (or any adobe software it seems).

    Check this registry key

    HKLM\Software\Clients\Mail

If it would support Extended MAPI there would be a registry key under your default mail client named DLLPathEX

  • Have you checked if your Adobe packages contain any of the mail -related keys as virtualized (with override option) that would perhaps block them from seeing local proxy?

If that fails, maybe you could trace with Process Monitor what Reader/Acrobat are actually looking for when you invoke the function?

  • Was Office 2010 installed locally when you sequenced Adobe Reader?

When you use dynamic suiting you should try to use the "Attach to Email" function during monitoring.
