    Hi,

We are running with FEP2010 integrated with SCCM 2007....Clients are managed through console and definition updates are pushing thro' WSUS server...Few clients are getting error when receiving update, this error happens when we do manual definition update in client machines....The error was "virus and spyware definition status - connection failed"

I checked client logs no errors we identified.

Please direct us to resolve the issue at earliest.

This is probably happening because when you click the "update" button in the FEP client, it always goes directly to the Internet (microsoft.com) to download the definitions. There's no way for the FEP client to initiate an update from SCCM or WSUS; they can only scan the machine to see that an update is needed and then push it down - a one-way communication. So, if you don't have Internet/microsoft.com enabled as a fallback update location, it will always fail. Also, if your firewall/proxy is blocking traffic to microsoft.com, you would get an error as well.
