    Hi All,

    I've been having a strange problem lately at a clients site...One 2010 Server (Virtual) running off a SAS IBM DS3524. I've given it 4vcpus and 16Gb of Memory.

    Randomly, everything will lock on it and the CPU Consumption goes to max on all CPU's. The only way to restore is power off, re-start in Safe Mode with Networking and then reboot back into normal operation.

    There is nothing in the logs regarding the error, it just stops. I'm at a loss to diagnose this, but it seems related to Exchange Services. I don't think it's resource constrained, there are only 50 mailboxes on it.

    Does anyone have any hints on troubleshooting this?

    I think you can Check in the VMware itself.

    Which Service peaked up ,

    Do we have any Disc Errors in System Logs ?

    How users are conneced ? online or Cache ?

    What anti virus you using ?

    Any Recent Changes ?

    Hi, It's no specific error, just CPU going to 100%. No disk errors, between 30-40 users connected, most MS clients are cached. NOD32 is our A/V no recent changes either.

    When your online maintanence runs ? (Database Properties _ Maintanence )

    Any Conflicts on this - Same timings

    Hi, backup runs at 10-12pm every night. How would I check the online maintenance?

    All the DB's are configured to run between 1am - 5am.

    When the Backup completes ?

    Is it completing before that.

    And similar timings where the server crashes ?

    The backup (Exchange Portion) completes before 1AM. The crashes normally occur during business hours.

    Hello,

    You can use the performance monitor to check the status of the server:

    Perfwiz for Exchange 2010

    Then compare with the standard performance counters to local the root cause of the performance issue.

    Thanks Simon,

    I have started monitoring performance using the Exchange_2010_Perfwiz-MBX.xml file. How long should I let this run for? Interestingly enough, we don't seem to have had a lock-up for the last 4 days (touch wood).

    We need to have it run as long as , Untill the issue reoccurs.

    So that we can analyze with that data.

    Ok, so it finally locked up!

    I can see in the performance counter that just stopped at 8:AM this morning. The counter has a lot of information. What is the best way to save and post here?
