I already have a Standard Lync server setup in my domain environment - that I'd like to get rid of. I'd like to create a new Lync environment (new pool with different pool name than the first environment) with a new Lync server and Lync Edge server. Can this be done? Will the same AD groups, ACL's, etc. be used? Anything I need to watch out for? I plan to shutdown the exsisting Lync server VM while I setup the new server(s). Thanks!

The installer will not let you install a new deployment because it still will have all the old settings in AD. So to do a clean install  best to run "adsiedit" and connect to "Configuration naming context" and then browse down to "Configuration" > "Services" > "RTC Service" and then delete the entire RTC Service container.  You will then want to delete the computer object in AD for that Lync server as well. After thats all accomplished you’re good to rerun Lync setup.

You would be better removing the existing server from the topology and uninstalling the Lync components from the server to ensure it was removed "properly". Next just add your new servers to the topology and then install Lync.

When you say "topology" are you referring to the Lync Topology? Or the AD/network topology? How do you remove the exsisting server from the Lync Topology?

    Thank you! This sounds good.

Assuming you want to remove what was the first server in your topology the most important thing to do first is to move the Central Management Store. This will actually require that you install the new server first or at least a new SQL server:

Alternatively, I think you could actually just create a brand new topology and overwrite the old new one. I have not tested this but open Topology Builder and create a new topology and then publish it to overwrite the old one.

    Hi,

It would be better to remove the old attributes and remove / uninstall all previous Lync servers if nothing is running or hosted in the existing Lync environment ie. users should not be enabled on Lync server else it would not allow you to remove.

Open Lync topology builder remove Lync servers from there and then start uninstalling Lync Servers. for more information have a look in to this

you can also go with the ALANMAD option of moving central management store, if you have alot of things in your existing lync topology and want to keep those settings you can move cms to another server.

    Hi,

You can delete and decommission the currect Lync server Standard edition first then create the new Lync pool in the same topology builder. You need not to delete the Lync information in the AD.
