I am using Wictor's SP online remote authentication to download files, which is the same authentication method shown on Chris Johnson's and MSDN blogs.
This works fine when I use the default Public web address that Sharepoint gives you, ie http://company-web.sharepoint.com, but it fails when you change the url to use a custom CNAME, ie http://company.com.
The error: The communication object, System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel, cannot be used for communication because it is in the Faulted state. Googling comes up with web.config is read-only (azure problem), and received timeout (tried to no avail). But no SP online related issues.
Here is a diagram of what it is doing:
My only take is that when doing the "Send binary security token" it is getting lost due to the fact that the domain name is hosted elsewhere.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get around this?
