Adding user to site collection administrator?
-
7. května 2012 19:02I am able search trusted domain users in peoplepicker search box.But in central admin when I am trying to add them as site collection admin (after finding them in people picker search) it is giving redline undername name and not allowing to add them as site collection admin. Left click on the name and see the name and giving normal underline on name. If I click OK it is giving error "•No exact match was found. Click the item(s) that did not resolve for more options"

Hi.
Sounds like you have more than one hit and thats why it gets redlined? Try to click on the redlined username and select one from the resulting dropdown, does that work?
If not, try adding the user account manually using the domain\user principle.

Hi ItsMesri,
Can you check the connection between Active Directory server and SharePoint? I would be thinking that connection is corrupted or prevented by firewall maybe.

Did you configure the User Profile Service correctly and have all the user profiles been successfully synchronized ?
Also, i do agree with what Thuan Soldier has suggested.

Talib, you do not need the UPS running or even installed to resolve user accounts when granting permissions.
But, if the trust is the issue, this link gives an easy explaination and resolution:
SharePoint 2010 & domain trusts – People Picker
http://martijnschouten.wordpress.com/2010/06/02/sharepoint-2010-domain-trusts-people-picker/If it's a firewall issue, then according to Martijn, at least firewall ports 88, 139 and 445 should be open.
