user unable to attach a file from SharePoint to email

User is trying to attach a file from SharePoint site, to her email.
SharePoint 2007 x64
Outlook 2007 on WinXP x86
User has the document library mapped as a drive, and can access it via windows explorer.
However, when user opens a new email, and selects attach document, and tries to navigate to the SharePoint library via this mapped drive, user is getting a HTTP 410 error, webpage no longer exists.
Not sure if I should classify this as outlook, or SharePoint.
Starting with SharePoint, since accessing SharePoint seems to be the issue.

Hi Joshua,
Error 410 tells us that the resource is unavailable.
How about use this address instead of mapped driver address?
\\server@port\sites\sitename\document name

Its actually the same,
It seems to only happen when attempting to access SharePoint from the attach file dialog in outlook.
User can access the drive directly in windows explorer using the mapped drive or UNC. But cannot do either from the attach file dialog.
Site is using NTLM auth.

Hi Joshua,
I can attach file from SharePoint to email as a attachment successfully in Win7 Outlook x86 by
- Insert from Attach File dialog both by entering mapped drive, UNC and URL address.
- Copy and Paster the file from Windows Explorer to Outlook.
- Drag the file from Windows Explorer to Outlook.
- Right click the file in Windows Explorer > Send to > Mail Recipient.
Do that user has View Only permission? This type of use can view document types with server-side file handlers in the browser but not downloaded. Try another account which has higher permission.
And I'm trying to involve someone familiar with this topic to further look at this issue. Appreciate your patience.
Thanks & Regards,

User has contribute access.
I am going to have her try using one of the other methods you mentioned to see if it works.

Hello Joshua,
Can you also check if the user accesses the SharePoint Site as http://SharePointSite or http://SharePointSite.Company.com? If the later way then you may need to add the site to Intranet Zone in User's IE and check.

4. září 2012 13:15we have *.company.com in the intranets sites. Should not be an issue, Shortname and FQDN both work from explorer. Still waiting to hear back from the user.
