    Hi all,

     

    I just purchased dell server with 16GB.  I am going to test 2005 SP1 VMs and SCVMM.  I have one

    quick question:  Do I have to install windows 2003 64 bit on this host server since there is 16GB RAM?

    Can I install w2K3 32 bit on this host server?

    I assume you are going to load Virtual Server R2 on the host and if so follow this link for VS R2 OS requirements.  http://www.microsoft.com/technet/virtualserver/evaluation/sysreqs.mspx 

    Bottomline, you don't have load the 64 bit addition of the Windows 2003 on the host.

    Physical Memory limits for Win2k3 are dependent on the SKU you install. Here is a chart for different SKUs and there physical memory limits.
