Computer freezes when playing games in windows 7

5. června 2012 16:50Hello, About a year ago i've purchased a Cyberpower computer. Everything was running smoothly until a couple months ago the computer has been freezing on me whenever i've played a games. Thinking that maybe it was something in my computer i completely cleaned out my computer and only installed the games, it still froze during gameplay. Both games installed fine and i had no problems starting up the games. I have AMD Radeon HD 6950 GDDR 16X PCIe Video card. I also have an 22 inch Asus monitor. My screen resolution is 1920x1080.I'm going back and forth deciding rather or not it a heating issue. I do have a asetek 510LC Liquid cooling system 120mm Radiator and Fan. The video card reaches about 65 degrees c whenever i'm playing a game. One of games is not windows 7 compatible however it still starts up fine. The other game is windows 7 compatible but like i said both game freezes up during game play..Any suggestion would be appreciated. If you need anymore information about my computer just let me know.
I have Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
TB SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 64MB Cache 7200RPM HDD [-25] (Single Hard Drive)
8GB (2GBx4) DDR3/1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Module (Corsair or Major Brand)

Set of test utilities.
Note: If you are OverClocking or use any automatic overclocking or power saving BIOS features, start out by disabling them: Intel EIST, Turbo Mode, Cool and Quite and drop back to the stock speed as a starting point.
Disconnect any other (additional) internal hard drives and external USB devices.
Check for any loose hard drive power or SATA cables, Graphics card or other power cables.First run Memtest86+:
This runs from a boot disk or CD and should eliminate or confirm if your one or more of your memory
sticks are bad or the SPD values in the BIOS are correct.
Let it run for as long as you can: 2,4,6,8 or more hours (at least 3 full passes), if no errors by then your ram is OK.

Hard drive Testing:
If you don't know your drives make and model, Try "Speccy",
it provides System/computer Information in detail:

The speed (Frequency) your memory is running at. The rated frequency for your memory.

Device Drivers: Did you install the motherboard manufacture's latest device drivers?
Check their support site for the latest drivers as the CD that came with the computer
or motherboard may be older and less stable drivers.Check the Graphics card manufacture's download site:

What are you using for a power supply.
I recently replaced my PSU with a Corsair TX850V2 and eventually it will pay for itself as its way more efficient. I could have used a lesser capacity but operating the PSU at 10% means long service life.
The HD 6950 is one bin down from the flagship HD 6970. That card will need about 225 W all by itself.

Hey guys thanks for the suggestions. I ended up going in to bios and loading fail safe mode and lowering the memory's progress to standard. I'm still in the process of seeing if any freezes occur........and so far so good.
My power supply is 1,000 Watts, Raidmax RX-1000AE 80 PLUS GOLD POWER SUPPLY
I will update you in a couple days.
