I Know that Microsoft Doesn't Like Apple but Windows 7 RC is Now Wanting to Format My iPod Nano
- When I plug in my iPod nano 3rd generation (it was a gift in my defense) into the USB port, Windows 7 RC now gives me a "you need to format the disk before you can use it...do you want to format it" message. When I click cancel, iTunes doesn't recognize my iPod. I restarted my computer and it gave me the same thing. Before today it would ask to scan and fix my iPod (which was annoying) and I would click out of that and then it prompt me for what I wanted to do with the iPod (which was annoying) and I would click out of that, but then iTunes would at least recognize my iPod; now it doesn't. The only thing I can think that could have caused this is that I scanned the computer with Windows Defender when prompted by the action center flag at the bottom right of the screen today, and I think I did it with my iPod still connected. My iPod is working just fine after testing it now.

- OK, I went ahead and formatted it after I saw some of the artwork had been corrupted on the iPod nano. After that, iTunes recognized it as corrupt, and I attempted to go through the restore process, but my iPod is now frozen and after being asked by Windows 7 RC, I am attempting to format the iPod again. I think the original problem was actually that I did not think the iPod was connected since the scan and fix window (mentioned above) was hidden behind my other windows (this wouldn't happen if new messages, especially important ones, appeared on top instead of the file folder simply becoming red) and iTunes was not recognizing the iPod, so I disconnected it without properly ejecting it (which always corrupts the artwork.db file on it and makes me have to restore it).
- OK, after I formatted it again, I hard offed the iPod (held down the top and center button at the same time) while it was connected to the computer, and now it is syncing properly, so the immediate problem is fixed.
