How do I create a Windows 7 Virtual PC in Windows 7 Virtual PC?

Imay be missing the point of virtual PC completely here but is is possible to install one copy of Windows 7 inside "Windows 7 Virtual PC"? Also, once done is it possible to install another copy of Windows 7 inside the copy of windows 7 that's running on windows 7?
I've tried to ask bing / google but the search ignors my desire to one inside the other and returns only links to Windows XP in Windows 7 Virtual PC.
The most frustrating search I've ever made.

What would be the point of installing a VM inside a VM?
You might be able to do it, but it would not be efficient.
Each VM is another layer of software that emulates a hardware plaform.
All you will accomplaih is add more software layers to slow down the guest system.

18. února 2012 19:34What are you trying to do that running two virtual machines on the host wouldn't do for you? If you want to run two operating systems simply create two vms on your Windows 7 host. Resources permitting you can run both of them at the same time anyway. Rick is right. The overhead needed for the cpu to manage a vm and then do it all over again because it is in another vm, and then manage that vm too is horrific. Not to mention how the memory has to be managed as well.

I think the recursive vms was just a "will it blend" moment on my part. Curious if it could be done, rather than expecting anything useful to come out of it. My actual question still holds though; how do you create a vms? All the Virtual Machines How to guides have been written from the point of view of installing an XP Virtual Machine inside windows 7. I've not seen anything to show me how to install "Windows 7 inside Windows 7.
I'm guessing this is one of those things that is incredibly obvious when you know the answer but seems completely undocumented (because it's impossible to search for).

Click Windows Virtual PC-->Windows Virtual PC from the start menu or go here:
C:\Users\%username%\Virtual Machines
From the menu, click "create virtual machine" and then follow the wizard. You will need Windows installation media and a serial number.
Virtual PC will not allow you to run a VM inside another VM. Some other 3rd party virtualization programs wil, i.e. VMWare Workstation.
there are quite a few sites that have instructions and videos of installing OSes in Windows. Here's two:

I suppose I expected the thing that launched to look like an application not an explorer window. So the view I was presented with seems wrong. Now that I know what to do it is incredibly simple. -

When you open Wvpc, and it shows you your virtual machines, at the top, in the header bar it should have an option to create a virtual machine.
After you have created the vpc, start the machine and apply the system you wish to use in vpc mode, IE insert your disk and direct vpc to read, or point vpc to a vhd to apply.
