I have WMP 11 on Windows XP SP3, and I can't stream any content through it.

Firstly, I would like to check whether you are using XP mode or Windows XP.

If you are using Windows Media Player 11 in XP mode, I suggest you can use Windows Media Player in Windows 7 system. Please understand that Windows XP Mode was primarily designed to help businesses move from Windows XP to Windows 7. Windows XP Mode runs many older Windows XP productivity programs and that are not natively compatible with Windows 7, while Windows Media Player is a build in feature in Windows 7, you don’t need to use XP mode for this.
