Windows Server 2008 R2 No Internet Access when using Fixed IP but no Issues when set to DHCP.....

  Set your server to DHCP, run IPConfig /all and then set it static and run IPConfig /all.  Paste both into a message here and lets take a look.

  For some reason. If my 2008 Server is Set to DHCP it pick up an IP and can access Web with no issues.

  If I set the IP Manaualy on a reserved address with the Same Gateway and subnet I can access local network but no web base access.

  Here the scheme: 192.168.2.2 255.255.255.0 192.168.2.1 DNS: Same for Both

  I've read quite a few forums with no luck.

  I've doubles checked all the settings any id's.....

  Since the IP configuration is the same, it should work unless the used static IP address is already in use by another host.

  I would have to agree with your DNS server, Subnet, default gateway are the same  then you should be able to access the internet.

  Hello,

  do NOT use the DG as DNS server on the machines NIC. Assure to use the DNS server as preferred and configure the FORWARDERS in the DNS management console to the ISPs DNS server.

  Please post an unedited ipconfig /all from the server, fixed and also with DHCP.

  For some reason the Gateway was not being accepted in the Fixed IP Configuration.

  I had to Manually enter the Gateway from another PC on the Network server by doing a remote into the server as when I would enter information manually i would lose connection to server but no localy on network.

  The gateway was blank so I entered the gateway manually and voila...

  I know this is an old thread and you have likely already got your answers and moved on but thought I would respond for all those with similar problems and searching for answers.

  My issue was very similar to yours.  When I turned on my Windows 2008 R2 server with a static IP everything initially worked fine.  I had internet access, all was good.  After 24 hours, I had no internet but I could still ping even outside of my LAN and firewall, filesharing to other servers and printing to networked printers all worked fine.  What I found that corrected my problem was I had a DNS problem.  My DNS Server was on another server and I had to go to that server and clean up the host A records.  I had initially setup my server with a different IP and I chose another IP that had been used before.  Both of these issues fouled up my records on the DNS server.  Once I went and deleted these records all worked as expected again.

  Just thought I would pass this along.
