How to deactivate an update in a specific Client

    Frage

  • hello!

I have sent the update Flash Player Active X to my client's machines to download and install. In W8 there is a problem, and the updates in that client are blocked. I would like to cancel that the client W8 recive that update for downloading and installing, but I dont know how. All the machines (W8, Wxp.... ) are in the same group, and has to be that way for another updates.

    Thanks in advanced

  • Please cancel this update from WSUS

I submit this is incorrect advice. The poster also has non-Windows8 systems that MAY need this update. Declining the update would prevent **ALL** systems from obtaining the update.

In fact, nothing is required in this scenario because Windows 8 systems will never even try to download or install a Flash Player Active X update .. the update is, by definition, Not Applicable to Windows 8 systems.

  • Hi,

Please cancel this update from WSUS and follow below steps on client machine.

Please go to windows 8 client and look for DATASTORE.EDB  (path=C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore )and renamed this file to “OLDDATASTORE.BAK”.

If you need any further assistance, please do write here.

  • I have sent the update Flash Player Active X to my client's machines to download and install.

And only those machines where it should install will it actually attempt to do so.

Correct. The Adobe Flash Player Active X is not applicable to Windows 8 systems.
I would like to cancel that the client W8 recive that update for downloading and installing, but I dont know how.
You don't have to "Do" anything. Windows 8 machines will ignore that update because it is NotApplicable .. in exactly the same way they ignore Windows 7 and Windows Server updates.
