TMG causing BSOD
- Hello,
I just tried to install TMG on a server and it is now causing a Blue Screen of Death. The server is setup with the following:
2 Intel/PRO 1000 NICs
2 D-Link DGE-530T Nics
I have a VM running in Hyper-V that is attached to one of the D-Link NICs, 1 of the Intel NICs is the Internet connection and the other is for the internal network. The last D-Link is the perimeter network.
After TMG finished installing, the BSOD came up and every time that Windows loads it causes the Blue Screen. I am right now unable to determine the cause of the BSOD as disabling drivers has not worked yet. Could anyone give me some insight into this.
Thanks,
Michael

- Hi Mike,
Thanks for your help.
This issue was fixed in TMG build 6412 (06.00.6412.100)
As a workaround, use only 'regular' ethernet LAN adapters (no wireless, modems)
Thanks,

- Ok, I did some more troubleshooting and have found that the D-Link card for the VM machine is causing this. When TMG bound itself to the VM switch it causes a BSOD. Unable to determine what Stop Error I am getting as it goes by so quick. Is there some way for me to unbind this from that network adapter? As I would like to have my VM running on that machine.
Michael R. Mastro II Hi Michael,
Which version of Hyper-V are you using? Is it the one published with Windows Server 2008 RTM?
We need additional information from you in order to be able to assist you, can you please provide us the following:· Crash memory dump. Default dump location is "%SystemRoot%\MEMORY.DMP". Best dump to obtain will be "Complete memory dump" that can be configured in the following way –
o Click Start->Control panel
o Once Control panned is displayed – double click System
o Once System applet is displayed – click "Advanced System Settings" link (on the upper-left part of the applet)
o Once "System Properties" dialog box is displayed - Click "Settings…" in "Startup and Recovery" group.
o Once Startup and recovery dialog box is displayed – select "Complete memory dump" in the "Write debugging information" drop down list.
o Click OK
· TMG trace file - "%windir%\Debug\isalog.bin"
· All the event log from "%SystemRoot%\System32\Winevt\Logs"
· All LDF and MDF files from ISA installation directory. The default installation directory is "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft ISA Server\ISALogs\
Can you provide us the content above?
Thanks,
Amos- Hello,
I am using the most current version of Hyper-V, which is right now the RTM version. I was using RC0 or RC1 when I ran into this problem. Though it's status has not changed since I installed the Hyper-V RTM. I can provide the needed information that was requested, but since the files are rather large I will not be able to post them in the forums. Is there a address I can send them too? If not let me know and I will begin to post them in the forums.
Thanks,
Mike
Michael R. Mastro II - Are you part of TMG advisory group or TAP program? If so you can submit the files via the Connect site otherwise we'll provide an alternative.
- Sorry I am not part of the advisory group of TAP program. That is not for trying to apply to the TAP Program, it just does not show the ability to apply to the TAP program on the Connect site. So I will need an alternative place to submite the files too.
Michael R. Mastro II - Still awaitng instructions on where to send the information.
Michael R. Mastro II - Hi Michael,
We are well aware of this.
Unfortunately we did not have the facility in place and its taking us time to have the service available.
I hope to be able to send you the instruction shortly.
Thanks,
Amos - Amos,
Thank you, I will be sending you the requested files.
Michael R. Mastro II - So far I have been unable to send the memory.dmp and isalog.bin files as they excede memory. Memory.dmp is at 316 MB, and isalog.bin is 400 MB. I am also working on trying to get the SQL logs from that server at this time. I have sent all the other log files that I currently have.

- Thank you Amos. I just checked my build. A little behind that one. So I will look for the newer version and see how it works. Let you know how it goes too.
Michael R. Mastro II Hello Amos O,
How does one get build 6412 of TMG?
- This is the same build that was released for Essential Business Server (EBS) and as standalong TMG Medium Business Edition (MBE).
IOW, you have to buy it.
