Only 1000 VPN clients allowed in TMG

Hi,
we have installed UAG on W2K8 Standard x64. We want to use SSTP as a failover mechanism for Direct Access. As we have approx. 7000 Clients we want to have also up to 7000 concurrent SSTP connections. However in the TMG Alert Log i see the error message that only 1000 connections are allowed with Windows 2003 (SIC!) Server Standard. According to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc995159.aspx the limit is set to 1000 VPN client connections globally.
Is there a way to enable more than 1000 VPN client connections with TMG Enterprise on W2K8 Standard? If not, can the W2K8 Standard easily changed to W2K8 Enterprise or has the OS to be re-installed completely?
Best regards
Thomas

Hi,
the limit comes with the underlying Operatin System. Windows Server 2008 R2 changes the limits again:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/r2-compare-specs.aspx
it is possible to upgrade from Standard to Enterprise. It is like a new installation but the configuration should be keeped after the upgrade:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc755199(WS.10).aspx#BKMK_Supported
BTW: 7K concurrent VPN connections with one Box? I hope you planned the server load well!

Hi Marc,
well we have just re-installed all servers with W2K8 R2 Enterprise from scratch :( I have tested an inplace upgrade with a virtual machine which did in fact work - only afterwards no TMG service was coming up again. Therefore we decided it might be safer to do a complete re-install. I would really like to see this information about the max. RRAS connections included in the TMG/UAG release notes.
Best regards
Thomas

Thank you for the post.
Regarding RRAS connections, you may refer to this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee344833(WS.10).aspx
