SCCM SP2 upgrade applied, windows 7 not supported?
I'm running SCCM in native mode and WSUS both on a single server. I just applied SCCM SP2 (upgraded from SP1 R2) and WSUS SP2 (upgraded from SP1).
Since the upgrade I have tried without success to install the SCCM client on Windows 7 workstations. Here is a ccmsetup/log excerpt from the windows 7 machine:
<![LOG[Client OS Version is 6.1, Service Pack Version 0]LOG]!><time="16:18:31.833+420" date="11-25-2009" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="3856" file="ccmsetup.cpp:533">
<![LOG[Client OS is not a supported Windows Embedded Platform]LOG]!><time="16:18:31.833+420" date="11-25-2009" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="3856" file="ccmsetup.cpp:535">
I also notice that there are no default collection groups for windows 7 or windows 2008 R2, which I thought the upgrade to SP2 would have created.
Did my install of sp2 fail despite the reported success from the installer?
Why does windows 7 appear to be unsupported?

- Windows 7 is supported and no there are no collections created for Windows 7 or Window 2008.

Hi,
Garth is right, Win 7 is supported even though no collections are created. When you deploy the client with a software package Windows 7 wont be listed as a supported platform (which might be a minor mistake). Check this post for info on how you change the package settings - http://scug.dk/blogs/configurationmanager/archive/2009/10/23/installing-the-configmgr-client-on-windows-7-and-windows-2008-r2.aspx

That isn't applicable in that case because SJeffsUT already posted an excerpt from ccmsetup.log on the client.- You have all ready had more coffe than me this morning :-)

http://www.enhansoft.com/ - Thanks for the response about the collections, I will manualy create them.
While the windows 7 installation was failing at first, as I reported, it did succeed several hours later. What would be the cause of the delay?
