Mail attribute keeps disappearing on Resource Object from AD users and computers

Ok this is weird
I have several resources that when i look at them in EMC, they have email addresses and primary, but when i look at them in Adsiedit or Ad users and computers, the primary email address or "mail" attribute is missing
I set the address, then wait for 3-4mins to refresh and it disappears again.
The resources have the proxyaddresses field populated correctly, but NOT the "mail" attribute and thus when you try and search it from Outlook 2007 or later in the GAL, it doesnt appear.
However if you select the "ALL Rooms" list you see the resource fine, but it's email address is blank. However if you click properties of the object, you can see all its proxyaddresses
Can anyone point me to something that may cause this issue? and why some resources will not keep tme primary email address in the "E-mail" section under the General tab in Ad users and computers. Yes i have tried turning on set email address automatic as well

To me it looks ike there is some process clearing attributes in AD other than Exchange.
Does the mail attribute get populated when you create a new resource object in Exchange, how long does it take before it's cleared out?

other than mcafee, veritas for backup not that i can think of
i noticed as soon as one of the servers checks for the DC's the setting gets wiped. It's only the windowsemailaddress that fails, any other change is ok

Are all resource mailbox has encounter thisissue? How many email address policy do you have?
Please increase Diagnostic Logging on MsexchangeSA\proxy generation, MSexchangeAl\LDap operations, Account Management and then reproduce this issue to see what error was recorded.
Hope it is helpful .
