Forefront Security for SharePoint w/SP3
- I currently have Forefront Security for Sharepoint w/SP2 running, and have encountered an issue which compels me to upgrade to SP3. However, it doesn't appear that there is a stand-alone SP3 install, but rather a full install of the entire product with SP3 integrated. Is this the case? If so, can anyone who has installed it give me some insight as to if the install is intelligent enough to see that you already have the product installed and just apply the appropriate updates while retaining your settings, etc. Also, is a reboot/iisreset/etc required following installation?

- Hi,
All Forefront for Sharepoint (and Forefront for Exchange) Service Packs are actually full install packages that can be used for both clean installations and upgrades alike. If you run the setup, you should see that it detects your current installation and runs in upgrade mode. Your current setting will then be maintained, as you'd expect. A reboot may be necessary, depending on what files need to be replaced and whether other processes are currently locking them. Sharepoint and Forefront services will be stopped and restarted during the upgrade, although you do have the option not to restart them immediately, if you prefer. There is no need for an iisreset.
Hope that helps!
