Answered Bounced emails from Bigfish.com

We are having a problem where a number of clients have had trouble sending us emails.  It seems that all the clients get the same bounced message:

    Generating server: mail126-tx2-R.bigfish.com

    john.doe@ameriflex.com
#< #5.0.0 X-Postfix; host smtp.securitiesamerica.com[208.77.174.66] said: 550 No such domain at this location (john.doe@ameriflex.com) (in reply to RCPT TO command)> #SMTP#

I've spoken with our host (123together), as well as securities america and they both agree that the bigfish smtp connector seems to be trying to connect to the wrong server.  It looks like they are connecting to smtp.securitiesamerica.com, when they should be connecting to (according to the mx record) mx1.123together.com.

Just wondering who to contact with MS Online services to try and get this remedied.  Thanks!

    Hi,

Very strange. Have you tried from your personnal email address (live.com,gmail.com, etc) ? Do you experience the same behavior ?

If you need any help on FOPE, you can always make a call to BPOS support team.

    Regards,

    Aziz

Has this been resolved?  If not, please make sure that an SR has been created and send me the number so I can take a look at this.

    email: danielt@insecurityinc.com

If it wasn't difficult, it wouldn't be fun, but why's it got to be this much fun.

Thanks for the responses.  I thought this had been resolved... but turns out it has not.

Last I looked, the MX records were always set appropriately, however when I took a look at the name servers for that domain, the primary name server was correct, but the second and third servers were some random servers.  Figuring that had to be causing the issue, I set the name servers correctly.  Well yesterday the client reported that they were still having some problems with certain senders getting bounced messages.  Same exact thing, only senders that use Microsoft Online Services, and bigfish.  Again, it looks like bigfish's SMTP connector is connecting to the wrong server.  According to the MX record, it should be connecting to 123together's server, but it is still trying to connect to smtp.securitiesamerica.com.  I have no idea why it is trying to connect to that server.  Here is the most recent:

Yeah, that is def. a problem on the FOPE servers, mxtoolbox is pulling up the 123together servers as well. Have you opened up a support ticket through BPOS? Sometimes they can take a bit to get back to you so it may be better for you to call them directly. Let me know what they find, I'd be interested to know what the issue is on their end.

Thanks.  Do you have contact info?  I'm not exactly sure who best to contact.  Thanks again.

Sure, the numbers are listed here:

    http://www.microsoft.com/online/help/en-us/helphowto/76970997-2861-4a0b-94d3-e08f963aba97.htm

They may redirect you to FOPE support, if they try to I'd make sure they directly connect you and/or have them give you the direct support number for that service.

I'm getting hundreds of messages a day like this:

"Michael M. T. Henderson A problem occurred during the delivery of this message. Please try to resend the message later.

The following organization rejected your message: mail14-am1.bigfish.com."

I am Michael M. T. Henderson, and I didn't try to send any messages to myself, and certainly not through Bigfoot. I have two addresses, mmth@ku.edu and mmth@sunflower.com, and usually messages addressed to the former get through, while the ones addressed to the latter produce the Bigfoot message above. I get similar messages from Mailer-Deamon@Mailer-Deamon, and lots through "fontbridge.com." Since someone thinks my computer is trying to send messages to someone else, you'd think I have a virus. But all virus-detection programs, from Microsoft to Norton, have found nothing.

With the help of someone from Sunflower, I arranged for all messages sent to mmth@sunflower.com to be forwarded to mmth@ku.edu, and then deleted mmth@sunflower.com from my account ist on my computer - to no avail. I am, by the way, using Outlook 2010.

    Help!
