    Jose,

Are the live meeting and communicator bvoth parts of a standard BPOS-S subscription, or is one on premise and the other in the cloud?

    Yes, both are in BPOs.

    Regards.

Did you guys find a solution to this?

I'm having same problem on all BPOS clients I install... the "Share Information Using Live Meeting" is greyed out and there's no "Meet Now Using Live Meeting Service" option. Reinstalling/repairing Office Communicator 2007 R2 client and/or Live Meeting 2007 client doesn't do any good.

Please help, it's a really annoying issue for the customers/users.

This functionality isn't there with BPOS, it will be supported in Office 365 though. For now you'll have to launch the LiveMeeting client directly or via your Sign-In tool and do a 'join now' or schedule a meeting.

    Thanks,

Hi Jorge and thanks for your response.

I just have to ask, are you certain this is by design and that there's no workaround? If you have a look on the following link you'll see that it does work with Microsoft's hosted Live Meeting service: http://communicatorteam.com/archive/2008/03/03/89.aspx

So it doesn't make sense to me that it's not possible to do the same with Office Communications Online as part of BPOS. Here's another article on how to integrate collaboration tools with Communicator: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd637173(office.13).aspx

I've been able to add the "Meet Now using Live Meeting Service" to Communicator by fiddling with these registry keys (although I had to add them to Wow6432Node too since I’m on Win7 x64: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971719). I can now right-click one or multiple users, choose “Meet Now..” and it kicks of an URL on livemeeting.com, but I haven’t been able to figure out all the correct parameters so it results in an invalid page on livemeeting.com. I bet there's a way...

I have an ongoing case with Microsoft Online Services Technical Support on this. They haven’t given up on finding a resolution yet, and I hope they won’t (give up), because the lack of this option really cases a bad user experience when doing ad-hoc live meetings.

    Thanks,
    Richard

I am not saying it is a limitation per say, just that the functionality isn't enabled for one reason or another. There are multiple ways to get to a 'on the fly' LiveMeeting session started. While I would agree it would be nice for the functionality to be there, right now it just isn't. Microsofts focus is on Lync/Office 365 so that is where you'll see the functionality increase.

There may be a way to get 3rd party software to link it together, or hack it but I don't know of any. If you do find a resolution please let us know, I would be interested.

    Good Luck!

This is part of the BPOS-D not the BPOS-S. For the BPOS-d you need a minimum of 5k seats.

    Jimmy,

Yes and no, yes this feature is enabled in BPOS-D due to the dedicated nature of the service offering. However, the 5K seats isn't a requirement, it is just a general recommendation. Microsoft assums organizations of 5K or more need the dedicated features and require higher levels of control. But an organization of 10 users can purchase the dedicated service as well. Generally speaking the costs don't justify the purchase for small organizations though.

Interesting that this works on BPOS-D.

Any chance any of you have access to a BPOS-D client and can export the following Registry keys:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Communicator\SessionManager][HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Communicator\SessionManager]  <- if on x64 client

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Communicator\SessionManager]
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Communicator\SessionManager] <- if on x64 client

    Here's why: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd637173(office.13).aspx

Not sure if MS is using this method to integrate their own tools/services to OC client, but worth a try...
