I've seen some references to this but wanted to clarify -

If we have sharepoint on a host site can it be moved to SP on BPOS? I've noticed some tools mentioned but I don't know whether they can migrated from one hosted site to another?

    Any hints would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Paul

    Hi Paul,

Currently any migration to sharepoint online must be done in a manual basis. Can you post more about your sharepoint implementation so that I can suggest a migration strategy?

    Hi Paul,

Depending on what version you're using (ie. WSS or MOSS) you can try this approach:

    http://www.bpossibility.com/2010/07/03/migrating-a-wss-2-03-0-site-to-sharepoint-online/

It's manual, but it works. Alternatively you can look at products like Metalogix SharePoint Site Migration Manager - but it's rather expensive for one-time migrations.

Well, it will have to be manual then.

I didn't do the original setup for the site but there was never any webparts or real changes to the basic site.

Site content: Team Calendars, Documents, workspaces, lists - some pictures in there.

Seems like it should be a simple save (site a) and restore to (site b).

    Thanks,

    Paul

    Hi Paul,

If it's a team site using standard features - then it should be straight forward if you follow the instructions on our blog.

Let me know if you run into any difficulties.

The step #5 in the blog says to run stsadmm command. We are migrating from a hosted service and we do not have access to command prompt. What would you suggest we do?

    Thanks and Regards,

We have a free SharePoint migration application available on our site at:

    http://www.messageops.com/labs

It's pretty basic, but it should migrate the content for you.

For more advanced tools you should visit www.metalogix.com or www.bpos-experts.com
