SharePoint 2010 Out of the box Reporting

Hello. I'm trying to figure out how to get the most out of the native reporting tools within SharePoint 2010 Central Administration. It seems like there's not a whole lot there that's extremely useful for the type of reports I'm trying to generate. Specifically, I'm trying to get this data and put it into a format that I can pass onto a non-tecnical manager:
- List of Sites and user permissions on each site
- List of content that is older than a certain amount of time
- List of any sites that are getting close to certain size restrictions. (Site quotas, doc lib limits, anything that can run out of space)
One thing I find confusing about reporting in Central Admin is the "View administrative reports" section. The only thing I see in there is Search Administration Reports. Could I upload more templates there that pertain to the data I'm trying to report on? Is the limitations on the reporting in CA to make you use SQL reporting services? Are they even related types of reporting services?
Does anybody who has really spent time on SharePoint reporting have some powershell scripts that generate this data and / or recommend a product that gives me these kind of reports? I had used Idera Enterprise Manager at one point, wasn't able to get most of this surprisingly. I'd rather use something ootb if I can. Thanks!

Hi Spex5,
- List of Sites and user permissions on each site
Have a look at these two software options:
http://www.axceler.com/Products/ControlPoint.aspx
http://www.lightningtools.com/sharepoint-2010-permissions-management.aspx
- List of content that is older than a certain amount of time
- List of any sites that are getting close to certain size restrictions. (Site quotas, doc lib limits, anything that can run out of space)
Try these two posts to help you on these:
