New Installation of Sharepoint
New Installation of Sharepoint
- Hello,
I have an existing sharepoint installation, what I would liek to do is to lift everything to a new installation so I have an exact copy in prder to have a live and demo copies. What would be the best way to do this?
Thanks

Look at some Microsoft documentation.
I was thinking more in terms of specifying the use of the database(s) when installing MOSS 2007.

- It depends on which SharePoint but the normal method would be to use the old system's databases when installing the new system.
There will of course be NO link between the two systems after that. All you will have is a full copy of your existing system at the time the databases were used. Changes made to one will not go to the other.

So I make a backup of all the databases from the 1st installation and restore them on a second sql server instance. After that How do I rebuild them on the Sharepoint side?

- I guess a backup from within sharepoint and then restoring to a new sharepoint site is not an option?
