Installation error - GetUpdateServerConnection

When I install SCE 2010, I get the following errors below. I've tried reinstalling IIS, SQL etc without any success. Not sure what else I can do?
Here are the server details
- Windows 2008R2 as VM (VMware)
- SQL 2008R2
- New server install
- This is also the WSUS server which is installed when SCE is installed
Can someone please help or point me in the right direction? Many thanks.

Hello Glenn,
I don't suggest installin Essentials 2010 server on a VM managed by VMware. And it is no need to install WSUS server before the SCE server installation. And I'd like to confirm that you have followed the proper steps to install the Essentials 2010 server which are listed in the article below:
