    Hi

I had coded SATA port 2 to be disabled by setting PxSCTL register to 4h(Phy disabled).

This works fine after WinXP is loaded, the port remain disabled .

I also checked in MS-Dos on the register content and the setting remain as 4h(disabled).

However, Win7 installation process can detect the device on SATA port 2. Actually , I also

disabled SATA port 3 and above and they also enable back. Checking the PxSCTL register content

after installation and loaded into Win7 found the Phy bits being overwritten back to 0h(enabled).

Is the Win7 coded to always enable all sata ports regardless BIOS settings ?

    regards, gim hui

    Hi,

Generally speaking, if we disable some devices or ports that will not be enabled in system.

I suggest you contact manufacture for assistance on BIOS settings.
