I installed WIN 7 RC on my new laptop and I am unable to get WIN 7 to read a blue ray disk. Media center gives unrecognized format.  The laptop also has cyberlink DVD and it can't read it either. Any help

That seems to be a hardware problem rather than one with OS or software (assuming you use PowerDVD 9). You can verify that if you insert a blue ray data disc or a disc with self-produced video content. If that can be read by the system and only commercial movie discs can't be handled, you need to update your chipset and/or graphics solution to be compatible with the HDCP copy protection.

My laptop is a Sager Np9280, Intel core i7 920, 6Gb mem, 3 hard drives, Nvidia GTX280M. I have all the latest drivers loaded. I ran driver check and they are all up to date.
I can read all other disk including regular DVDs, all my CDs read also. It's just playing blue ray where it fails. The blue ray drive is a MAtshita BD-CMB UJ130AS. really a Panasonic drive. It is on the cyberlink site as support. It gives driver compatibility error. The cyberlink BD advisor is all green except for the CPU and the 280M, version 7.3. I may have to go to the newest 9.0 version.

I am experiencing a slightly different problem with hdcp in that the disc plays but only with 2 channel sound. Win 7 sound manager tells me that the hdcp is currently not supported. My machine is running i7 920, 12gig mem, ati 1gig 4890 graphics, 500g, 1.5 t hard drives. LG GGW-H20L blueray reader/writer. Computer connected to an onkyo 805 amp via hdmi. I have all the latest drivers as well, so maybe a compatabilty issue with win 7 that still needs to be ironed out?

I recently replaced the optical drive in my HP machine with a HP blue-ray drive. The drive came with Cyberlink PowerDVD8, which can play Blue-ray movies. Unfortunately, Windows 7 Media Center will not recognize a blue-ray DVD. Why can't Windows 7 Media Center recognize a blue-ray disk?

Michael, it looks like you will need PowerDVD 10 for Media Center integration:

Cyberlink's PowerDVD doesn't integrate with media center very well.  Actually Microsoft's media center seems to stop evolving back with Windows XP Media Center Edition.

According to this http://www.reviewmaze.com/2012/02/cyberlink-powerdvd-12-ultra-review-blu.html PowerDVD 12 integrates beautifully with WMC? Isn't this correct and is ArcSoft's player better in this aspect? The overall reviews of Blu-ray player software at that site suggest for a second year that both players are about equal in qualities so maybe some little things like WMC integration could help to choose one of them.
