    Hi,
On my win7 (x86) installation, I am able to use networking (both shares and internet work flawlessly), but I am unable to ping any address outside my LAN (timeout). The other (vista) machines in my home network work just fine.

Tried removing homegroup, swithing between 'home' and 'public' networks, disabling windows firewall  and disabling IPv6, but still nog go.

    Any suggestions?

Btw my previous 7 installation (upgrade vista x64 > 7 x64) worked flawlessly....

Well, there's nothing much to check; nothing has changed since the previous installation... furthermore: all three other machines (both wired and wireless) work as they should. Oh and my internet connection also works: i just cannot ping outside of the lan. (Oh, I can't connect to my newsserver as well)

What error do you see when trying to ping a site? Are you pinging a name or an IP address?

No error, just a timeout... I tried  pinging both hostnames as well as IP addresses, but with both the timeout occurs...

Can you post the full results like this?

    C:\Users\kdbrown>ping www.microsoft.com

Pinging lb1.www.ms.akadns.net [65.55.21.250] with 32 bytes of data:
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.

    Ping statistics for 65.55.21.250:
        Packets: Sent = 4Received = 0Lost = 4 (100% loss),

Don't use microsoft.com as they don't respond to pings. I'm trying to see if the name is resolved properly. Could you also post the results of

    nslookup www.somedomain.com

Substitute a site you know should respond to a ping.

Your gateway probably is not set correctly and you use proxy to go out.

In this case you cannot ping outside your LAN

I'll try your suggestions tomorrow (have no access to that machine right now) and post the exact ping & nslookup info here. Thanks so far!
