Windows Experience Index Could not be Computed
-
Mittwoch, 27. Mai 2009 16:58I am running Windows Experience Index (System Rating), but at the middle when the test running, an error message show "The Windows Experience Index for your system could not be computed" "Could not measure video playback performance"....please, anyone can help me what can I do..???
Sorry for my English...
I'm used Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHz, DDR2 RAM 1GB (Exclude Onboard VGA), OS Windows 7 RC 32-bit, VIA Chrome9 HC IGP - 64MB onboard VGA, Display 1280x1024, and I have free disk space up to 30GB..... And I've been updated all of my driver to the latest version with Windows Update.- Bearbeitet Andi Ariffin Sonntag, 14. Juni 2009 03:20

Andi,
The reason you're seeing this message is because Windows 7 allows for video decoding to be performed by the GPU, but yours is relatively old and does not support the new video acceleration introduced with Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Donnerstag, 28. Mai 2009 02:42Yikes....your system is far too old for Windows 7. You need a new PC period.

Freitag, 5. Juni 2009 23:29I have the same problem and I have and 8500 card with 512mb ram and 2 6200 cards hooked up with three monitors. Are these also too old?i7 920msi pro-e1tb HD12 gb ramwindows 7 rc

Freitag, 5. Juni 2009 23:38your video card VIA Chrome9 HC IGP only just works on vista OS, get an AGP video card or what ever your pc takes,
Windows Experience Index does not work on that video card (the drivers was hacked up an little from VIA to make them work on vista, think aero works as well but Slow)
get an basic video card
Nvidia 6200/7200 or higher, curent drivers are supported
ATI hmm any 3000 card or higher (not sure what drivers support for an low end ATI cards is best go for any thing above ati 3000) -
Freitag, 5. Juni 2009 23:42LOL your system spec but low end video cards more so the 6200 cards
best to stick with the same Type video cards really get 1 more 8500 card that is the same model make (also 3 monitors 3 video cards? why you only need 2 video cards each card supports 2 monitors)

Samstag, 6. Juni 2009 18:47Hi,
I also get the same error but funny thing, with the Beta version, i did get a score of 2.0. I have an Acer Aspire one, Atom 1.6 GHz processor, 1.5gb RAM etc. With Windows 7 RC1, i get the same error as Andi. Any ideas? -

I think it's the time to buy a new Video Card......thanks to all for the advices..... :D
-
Sonntag, 12. Juli 2009 13:17No we do not need a new video card. Windows 7 accepts DirectX 8, 9 and 10 video cards. Please see the Windows 7 video card compatibility list. I had the same error message on a on-board video card. Please see my specs below:AMD Phenom 9850Asus M3N78-VM (On-board Geforce 8300 256MB DirectX10)Seagate 500GB SATA 2 32M driveLG SATA DVD+/-RWANTEC Sonata III Case with 500Watt Antec Green PowerI solved the problem by increasing the memory buffer size in the Bios settings. I had it set to 32MB and I increased it to 256MB. That solved my issue.A Geforce 8300 video chip is not very performant do I obtained a performance rating of 4.1The FIX:1) Increase the video memory mapping or buffer size to the maximum your motherboard accepts2) Install the most recent drivers (Nvidia has a Windows 7 64 bit driver that is WHQL)Have fun!

Curious, I had no problems with an old ATI x600 until I replaced it with a faster 8600GT. The built-in NVS 210 is slow but once again, no problem.
The OP's machine is grossly underpowered for Windows 7. I suggest getting a new machine with Windows 7 preinstalled to have a machine that is reasonably capable of running it.

Mittwoch, 18. November 2009 08:44So nobody knows nothing. I think that saying "your computer is old buy new" isn't solution. If computer is old it should just give low rating points.
I hhink this is a display driver related problem. When I use standard VGA driver I can compute experience Index (Graph scores 1). But when I use drivers designed to my mobility 9600/9700 card I get this: "Could not measure video playback performance".
In Vista and W7 beta experience Index also works. -
Montag, 14. Dezember 2009 16:01No it's not !! it could probably use a bit more RAM 1Gb is not really enough for current office apps but otherwise it is perfectly acceptable spec for PC user. PC gamer however different story.

Montag, 14. Dezember 2009 16:37I don't think anyone has a solution to this problem. I have checked many forums and no solution. Anyway Windows 7 has released and i think i will try and install ultimate full edition to test.

Donnerstag, 4. Februar 2010 19:51I fix anything you uninstalled or installed that cause issues, use system restore. It will fix the issue 90% of the time. That and buy registry booster, I love it.

Samstag, 13. Februar 2010 08:52If you re having this problem and you installed "Klite codec pack" this is pretty normal.
Klite deactivates microsoft original codec to replace them with most performant ones.
If you want to run the Windows Experience Index you just have to run the Tools/Win7DS tweaker Filter included in Klite and reset all options to microsoft default.
You'll be able to use the Windows Experience Index.

Setting maximum permissions for folder & files for all users & system accounts dont bring anyresult.
Datastore folder is cleared, don't working too. (maybe anyone can share this files, cause i fully deleted them from disk)
Then, with Win7DS tweaker I restored settings to win defaults. the same
Then I completley uninstall K-lite. Not working....
Any ideas?

This worked for me. I couldnt get an index but after I installed the 'Win7DS tweaker filter' I switched all the codecs from Microsoft to ffmpeg. After that I ran the test and now my experience index is 2.8 with an ati mobile radeon 9700 and centrino 1.5 Ghz.- Als Antwort vorgeschlagen mohammed ebrahim Dienstag, 25. Mai 2010 12:38

this has also worked for me I don't know about computers being to old because I just built this one not to long ago, but was having the same issue. I just put some more RAM in my computer and wanted to check my index and it would not let me so I installed Preferred Filter Tweaker http://www.bestsoftware4download.com/software/k-directshow-filter-t-free-preferred-filter- tweaker-download-noeksrja.html
when I ran it I rest-set all and ran my index thanks everyone for your help with this

I had the same problem with my "old" Samsung Q70 laptop, after upgrading from Visa to Windows 7. I followed the advice below and went to the Samsung support site (rather than NVIDIA's) to download the latest (2009!) NVIDIA drivers for the Q70. The process for loading the drivers was a bit hairy - the setup left me with a blank screen more than once, but with patience I got my system back and the performance measure went through smoothly. Obvious really I suppose, but I am well relieved!
Config:
Samsung NP Q70 AV02
Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 @2.00GHz
2.00 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8400M G (dedicated graphics 128MB, available 895 MB), Direct X 10.
The graphics brought the score down to 3.9, but that's OK, aside from the occasional video its only used for business graphics and presentations.
I think the lesson here is to try the easy solutions first. I had thought my laptop was faulty.
