    Andrzej,

    In your command:

    ImportScans.bat pocserver\pocserver ompm c:\ompm\scandata

Is pocserver the SQL Servername? In the documentation, the command is listed as:

    ImportScans.bat pocserver\ompm ompm c:\ompm\scandata

On page 22 of 3.5.2 lab application compatibility.docx, #4, shows to enter the command:

    CreateDB.bat pocserver\OMPM OMPM

which is naming the database server as OMPM, and not pocserver. So if you followed the instructions word for word on page 22, then your command for ImportScans.bat is incorrectly naming the SQL server as pocserver instead of ompm.

    Hope this helps,

    David

    David,

I've downloaded Proof of Concept Jumpstart Kit v1.5 and in this VHD, SQL server name is POCSERVER, so I've created database by using command :

    CreateDB.bat pocserver\pocserver OMPM

    And import is starting.

After few hours, when I breake importing, I can find some records imported to database OMPM, but there is no data when I try to find them in OMPM.acdr application.

I also have this problem. And I followed all the instructions of the PoC Documentation.

Shouldn't they work on every case? As we are talking about a VHD Microsoft provides to everyone...

same problem here.. stuck with it?

Still stuck with it. Today I just did a PoC Jumpstart at a customer and again had this problem.

One curious bit is when it's stuck saying Importing Data, if you press Ctrl+C you receive a message asking if you want to terminate the batch job, if you say no it simply "unstucks" and finishes, but when we go look at the database it has nothing....

I just can't understand how Microsoft messes up on this and no one tells a answer or corrects the problem.

Microsoft... Remember, we are partners that go to the "your" customers telling how good is this PoC and in the middle we fail at some point. It gives a terrible image of Microsoft.

My customer today was VERY disappointed with this happening.........

One other stuff I got yesterday at this customer's PoC was that SQL 2008 has expired the evaluation version.... I was lucky to have a SQL2008 ISO and could UNINSTALL ALL SQL2008 AND SQLEXPRESS ON SERVER AND REINSTALL IT IN FRONT OF THE CUSTOMER........

PS: Don't tell us to go to SQL forum or other forums. The problems are in the PoC VHD Microsoft released, and this is the forum for the PoC.

I too am getting annoyed with this..

As MadWolfPT says, I have had several issues with the PoC Jumpstart 1.5.. they've included:

    A) POCSERVER SQL instance is expired (Have to uninstall and then install a new SQL instance for use.)

    B) When using the OMPM tool, the import fails to do anything, just sits on 'Importing Data'..

Surely someone has been though and tested this Lab? it seems to be very poorly supported and implemented, given that its suppoesd to help Microsoft generate income from new Windows 7 business..

    All,

The PoC jumpstart has been updated. Version 2.0 is available for download here.

    Thanks for the update David.

Before I download the 15GB again, can you tell me if anything has changed in the PoC.

I'm assuming the SQL eval version has been refreshed, but asides from that?

Does the OMPM import now work as expected?

    Thanks,

    Dan.

    Dan,

There is a new announcement about version 2 posted at the top of the page. It explains some of the changes that have been made. I have not had a chance to test this out as of yet, so I cannot answer you about the OMPM import...

    Thanks,

    David

    Hi David,

As for the v2.0 I haven't downloaded/tested the VHD, so I can't say anything about the OMPM, but the content of the zip file is a bit messed up.

Most of the links don't work... (mainly because on the links there is a "invalid" space on the path to the file, just before the filename)

I hope Microsoft corrects it fast, because as it is, it's impossible to show at any customer...

(where is Microsoft quality assurance guy? :) )

Just a quick update; my problem it seems was being caused by using a 64 bit OS or the W2K8 OS \ rebuilt to 32 bit W2K3 with SQL 2005 with both SQLXML 3 & 4 and it works. Hope this helps.

I just downloaded v2.0 of PoC jumpstart and the SQL server included is also expired! Why not provide a download manager for all the individual files, downloaded 15 GB of data as individual files and can't even use this for my demo!!

Hi, hade the same problem with the SQL expiring.

What you could try is to set the server date to April 16.
Or if your VMs sync the time from the VM host you need to turn it off.
I suggest you donning this before you even boot the PoC server for the first time.

I had to upgrade to the evaluation version of all three DB (+component) to a real SQL 2008 r2 standard.

I ran the OMPM Lab, and I worked:
(Note that I used the MAPS DB instance instead of the POCSERVER)

    1.       CreateDB.bat pocserver\MAPS OMPM

    2.       ImportScans.bat pocserver\ MAPS OMPM c:\ompm\scandata

    3.       Then just run the Access DB “C:\OMPM\Report\OMPM.accdr”

    Hope this helps.
