Redirection of XP's My Documents on SBS2011 Server

I was pointed to posting in here but then the 2011 SBS forum..
I'm setting up a small business server with SBS2011 but a minor problem is coming up with the 'My Documents' Redirection. In SBS2011's GP It has redirection for 'Documents' (the New name for the folder) and when I set this as being the redirection, the XP client doesn't think My Documents IS Documents. Thus it won't redirect. And there does not apply to be a 'My Documents' variable in the GPE nor can I figure out a way to add one.
Does anyone have any ideas? Have I missed something very stupid?

Hi,
Since the Windows XP client failed to redirect My Document as expected, I suggest we’d better collect the following information to narrow down the cause of the issue.
GPMC.log
==================
a. On domain controller, click Start ->Run, type GPMC.MSC, it will load the GPMC console.
b. Right click on "Group Policy Result" and choose wizard to generate a report for the problematic computer and user account (please place appropriately). (Choose computer and select the proper user in the wizard)
c. Right click the resulting group policy result and click the "Save Report…" => save report to save the report to a HTML file.
In addition, I suggest we could refer to the following article for details about how to configure Folder Redirection.
Best Practice: Roaming Profiles and Folder Redirection (a.k.a. User State Virtualization)
Hope this helps.
Best Regards,
Andy Qi

Sorry for the Delay, here is the file
I don't think there is much that need to be protected in that file.. the Wizard flags up Computer Configuration Summary -> Component Status (X). Group Policy Infrastructure failed (the specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted) and it flags up a warning for User Configuration Summary -> Component Status (!) and fails on Both Folder Redirection (This security ID may not be assigned as the owner of this object) and Software Installation (The Installation source for this produce is not available).

The Software bit is I was trying deployment.. I think I might have mis named something, nothing to really worry about, but the folder redirection is kinda key..

Ah, I seam to have gotten folder redirection to work. After following that advice and creating the wizard results, I thought it was odd about the security ID. So I checked the redirection settings. It didn't give the user solo access (which is good) but I noticed the button to move current documents to the new folder was ticked. when I unticked that, it worked. So I guess trying to move the old documents (which was empty anyway) created a security problem Even thought i'm sure I gave the admin access to that folder.. oh well. Thanks ^_^ It's always something simple in the end- Als Antwort markiert Andy QiMicrosoft Contingent Staff, Moderator Freitag, 25. Januar 2013 03:18
