Beantwortet User Policies Missing

My user policies are not being applied. Not only that, but they are not appearing at all. WTF?

I have 2 OUs. One for the workstations and one for the users. The workstation OU has computer policies assigned. These get applied just fine. The user OU has user policies assigned and they do not get applied.

I have done a gprsop and there are no errors. In fact there is no mention of the policies at all. The gp modeling shows them. The userenv debug has no mention of these user policies.

Win7x64 clients / 2008R2 DCs.

Do you have the GPO set to only deploy computer policies and disable user?

Hello,

Did you enable Loopback Replace?
If so, that's your problem.

These are user policies that I want applied to the user no matter which machine the user logs in to. These policies are linked to the user ou not the computer ou.

Hi,

Since the GPO linked to the user OU with only User Configuration configured failed to applied to the users in the OU. I suggest we’d better collect the following information for troubleshooting.

GPMC.log

==================

a. On domain controller, click Start ->Run, type GPMC.MSC, it will load the GPMC console.

b. Right click on "Group Policy Result" and choose wizard to generate a report for the problematic user account (please place appropriately). (Choose computer and select the proper user in the wizard)

c. Right click the resulting group policy result and click the "Save Report…" => save report to save the report to a HTML file.

In addition, here is an article about how to troubleshoot Group Policy problems as reference, hope this helps.

I have been looking at the gpresult report for days. This is the User Config section. There are no user policies that I linked to the user OU. There are no errors. I turned up userenv debugging and they are not in there either.

Update. I blew away the user OU and created a new one with the same linked policies. It works. Huh?

If this is the USER config, then you HAVE Loopback "replace" enabled, as Matthias already mentioned...
Especially when looking at the name of one particular GPO: "WIn7 GPP - Folder Redirection - Loop". What does Loop stand for?

Loopback is a great feature as soon as you know what you 're doing ;-)) And don't blame MS - all results you get are fully predictable.

regards, Martin

NO THEY ARE NOT EVIL, if you know what you are doing: Good or bad GPOs?
