File Server Administrator Folder Permissions

I have a weird issue with our file servers that is affecting a number of folders. This is affecting folders that are and are not replicated.
Here are the symptoms:
-In the root of the drive I can create and rename items
-In most folders I can create items, modify data, but not rename items (files or folders)
-I am able to modify data in any of the items
-In the folders that I can not rename items, if I browse to a sub folder in one of the folders that is having issues, I am able to rename items
-New folders created on the root of the drive work correctly
The effective permissions for my user account show all items checked, and this check between a working and non-working folder is identical. The permissions of the non-working folders do not inherit permissions from the parent. Changing the folder to inherit does not resolve the issue. The standard permissions are set as follows:
-Administrators - Full
-AD Group (F) - Full
-AD Group (R) - Read
The Creator Owner shows no access, but is listed the same way in working folders. The folders are shared and replicated with DFSR. DFSR is in 2000 mode. I am flat out stumped on this one...

As I continue to mess with this, I tested un-sharing the folder. As soon at the folder was un-shared, I was able to rename items in the root. Note that I am accessing these folders from the server, not through the share.
Re-sharing with the exact same permissions (DA - Full, AD Group (R) - Read, AD Group (F) - Full) and I am still able to rename items.
Is this a bug?

Hi Drew,
The rename issue seems related to Delete permission, so in a folder you cannot rename files, please test if you could delete files and folders.
And in order to confirm if it is caused by permission settings, try to and your current account specifically to both Share and Security tab with Full Control permission. If it helps resolving the issue, try to find out it is Share permission or Security permission.
In addition, whether the issue occurs on all kinds of files or specific files like Office files? Try a TXT file.

This seems to happen over night.
This affects renaming any type of file, or folder.
I am able to delete files in the same folder where I cannot rename them.
If I unshared the folder, I am able to rename files as normal. After re-sharing, I can still rename files. It seems to revert however over night.
The same behavior is seen when going to the folder directly on the server, or using the UNC share.

This is still happening, but seems to be less frequent.
This is somehow tied to DFSR and one file server. If I reboot the server in question, everything works normally for 4-5 days, then we have the same issue.
Ideas?
