need to uninstall Integration services from server 2008 sp1 R2 VM.
The integration services not appear under Programs(control pannel). No uninstall switch for setup.exe in command line.
Help of integration services Setup.exe shows 2 available switches: quiet and norestart.

Hi!
Integration services are embedded in 2008 R2 and can not be uninstalled. They can be upgraded by installing them from Hyper-V manager to match the version of the Hyper-V host, but they can not be removed as they are a part of the OS.

Mike, thanks for the answer.
I am in process of moving some machines from VMWare to Hyper-V and vise versa.
VMWare requires that Integration services will be uninstalled. I guess it must...
I am really surprized that there is no GO for uninstalling IServises...
I uninstalled VMWare tools for transferring VMs to Hyper-V. But with my beloved HV I am in a trap.
Any suggestion?
I found an year old discussion that leads nowhere (no answer).

VirtualPC and Virtual Server used to have a VMAdditions (just like VMware's VMTools) - and like the VMware VMTools they did not play well on other hypervisors.
I bet that is the legacy advice. Hyper-V to VMware should involve nothing special as the Hyper-V Integration Services will not detect Hyper-V and thus they will not load. Not the way that things go when moving off VMware.

Brian,
this is absolutely encouraging advice :)
What service(s) could be disabled when on VMWare after conversion?
Thx.

There should be none to concern yourself with.
There is no user state component to the MSFT tools, they are all driver based. So if the drivers don't detect the 'devices' they don't load.
XenServer vm tools work the same way. It is the VMware tools that insist on loading.
And in the case of a VMware VM on another platform there are services and user mode monitors - they will all be broken.
If it is the old VMAdditions - like the VMware VMTools - they can only be uninstalled when they are running on their platform (either VirtualPC or Virtual Server in this case) - not any other time.
But it is the HAL that you need to watch out for. So force a HAL redetect in the VM.
