Problems posting to this forum
- I'm trying to gather data from users who are saying they are having problems posting to this forum. I understand people might have difficulty posting *new* messages, but perhaps don't have problems replying?
Please post a message here with an email address I can contact you with. Put something that can't be abused like "my DOT user HOTMAIL" or "my UNDERSCORE user GMAIL" and I'll delete the post after.
Example, mine:
marco DOT shaw GMAIL

- Click the ask a question button at the top of this page:

You will be asked to select a category and Winserverpowershell is not in the list. I had to go to:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverpowershell/thread/cbee5949-cc40-4558-98fb-c7f01d8290b1
Now the ask a question button will go to the correct link. The problem appears to be that there are 5 sites that do the same thing. The links are bound to get crossed.

- Thanks. I think the key is whether the link brings the user to the TechNet or MSDN forums...
Windows PowerShell is supposed to be a TechNet forum since it is in the Windows Server "parent forum".
I do see there is a need for more PowerShell forums:
-Another more general one maybe outside of Windows Server
-A developer-focused one - That absolutely is the problem based on my experience. The technet version works, the msdn version leaves you with the category dilemna. Apparently a problem in the overall social site. Even after posting to some category, I ended up posting to yet a different forum than the one selected just to see what would happen. You can reply however to existing posts. Dave

- I didn't get to escalate this yet. It appears to be working OK now for me at least. Please confirm.
- Marco, Try the same URL but use MSDN instead of Technet. I think that is the problem and likely the URL version that others used as that URL has been floating around and causes this weird behaviour. MSFT should probably fix that somehow... - Dave
