Hello,
I have several questions about WSUS if someone can help me :)
1. What is new on WSUS role on Windows 2012 regarding Windows 2008 R2 ?
About that, I have read that
In Windows Server 2012 the Windows Server Update Services is a built-in server role that includes the following enhancements:
- Can be added and removed by using the Server Manager
- Includes Windows PowerShell cmdlets to manage the ten most important administrative tasks in WSUS
- Adds SHA256 hash capability for additional security
- Provides client and server separation: Versions of the Windows Update Agent (WUA) can ship independently of WSUS

Is it the only news for WSUS on Windows 2012 ?
2. I dont understand the last point, "Provides client and server separation: Versions of the Windows Update Agent (WUA) can ship independently of WSUS". Someone can explain it to me please ?
3. What is the exact version of WSUS on Windows 2012 ? (WSUS 3.0 SP2 ?)
Thank you

Hi, it appears to be somewhat under-documented, but this is what I can say I've seen on a test server

1. What is new on WSUS role on Windows 2012 regarding Windows 2008 R2
Built-in support for patching Win8/Win2012 systems (WSUS v3 requires KB2734608) and enhanced capabilities for management with PowerShell. Also, the bits for the WSUS role ship on the Win2012 media, and do not need to be downloaded from Microsoft or another WSUS server.
2. I dont understand the last point, "Provides client and server separation: Versions of the Windows Update Agent (WUA) can ship independently of WSUS".
Neither do I. Versions of the WUAgent have always been able to ship independently of WSUS -- in fact, only four of the various incarnations over the past six years were actually made available to WSUS! and three of them shipped with the product installer (only WUA v7.6, this past June, was ever actually made available to WSUS as an independent update package)
The following chart may be entertaining with regard to that point:
- WUA v7.0 - shipped with WSUS 3.0 RTM; installed by WU/MU concurrent with release of WSUS 3.0 RTM
- WUA v7.1 - shipped with WSUS 3.0 SP1; installed by WU/MU concurrent with release of WSUS 3.0 SP1
- WUA v7.2 - released Summer 2008 via WU/MU only; also made available as a standalone installer available from the Download Center
- WUA v7.3 - shipped with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2
- WUA v7.4 - shipped with WSUS 3.0 SP2; installed by WU/MU concurrent with release of WSUS 3.0 SP2; available as a standalone installer
- WUA v7.5 - shipped with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1
- WUA v7.6 - released via WU/MU June 2012; made available to WSUS 3.0 SP2 for upgrade via KB2720211
- WUA v7.8 - shipped with Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012
