    Hallo,

    Im Buch von Ralph Kimball steht im Kapitel: Order Management folgendes:

    If we physically stored all the facts expressed in the different units of Measure. We would end up with 50 ( 10 * 5 ) facts in each fact row. Instead, we compromise by building an underlyning physical row with 10 quantity facts and 4 unit of measure conversation factors. We only need for unit measure conversion factors rather than five since the base facts are already expressed in one of the units of measure. Our physical design now has 14 quantity related facts ( 10 + 4 )

    Quantity Facts sind folgende:

    -> Order Quantity
    -> Release to Manufacturing Quantity
    -> Manufacturing Pass Inspection Quantity
    -> Manufacturing Fail Inspection Quantity
    -> Finished Goods Inventory Quantity
    -> Authorized to Sell Quantity
    -> Shipment Quantity
    -> Shipment Damage Quantity
    -> Customer Return Quantity
    -> Invoice Quantity

    4 Factors

    -> Retail Case factor
    -> Shipping Case factor
    -> Pallet Factor
    -> Car Load Factor

    folgendes habe ich im Internet gefunden:

    to simplify and provide easy access to information:

    • a fact table could hold a fact in multiple formats/units of measure - see Figure 5.11 Page 131
    • example: suppose we have 10 facts, 5 units of measure, then 10x5=50 facts
    • row gets large
    • compromise: 10 facts in one measure and 4 conversion factors... 14 values

    So wirklich verstehe ich nicht worum es hier geht! Man soll etwas zusammenfassen ?

    Bezüglich dieser Berechnung:

    suppose we have 10 facts, 5 units of measure, then 10x5=50 facts

    Sind mit 10 facts die 10 Quantity Attribute in der Faktentabelle gemeint oder sind 10 Zeilen in der Faktentabelle gemeint?

    Bezüglich der 5 units of measure ( welche units of measure sind hier gemeint? )
