MDT 2012 Monitoring is not working

    Question

  • Hello,

we have problems with the monitoring function. We don't get it to work.

I have installed MDT 2012 on a Server 2008 R2 fully patched.  Net Framework 3.5.1 feature is installed. I have activated monitoring for my deploymentshare.

The entry in the cs.ini is set correct. I have tried with IP / FQDN  / just hostname. Firewall (Domain) is off.

I have recreated the boot-wim. When i deploy a computer nothing is monitored.

But i get the following error message when i go to Monitoring in the DeploymentShare:

  • Hello ,

I have exactly the same problem. I tried with hostname or FQDN or IP (the MDT server), the service is running, Firewall OFF. Always the same message as yours. Version of MDT 2012 : 6.0.2223.

    Any idea ?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I also have this same problem! MDT Monitor Service is running (although I noticed that the 'Description' field is empty, which surely cant be right), checked CustomSettings.ini and 'Monitoring' tab are configured correctly. Firewall on MDT server is OFF.

Does anyone from Microsoft have any ideas as to what might be causing this please?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

i just checked the description field and its empty too.

Now i am installing a test server (VM). Maybe i will get it to work and find out the problem??

Some more information about our config:

    - The WDS-service is running on another server

    - The Deploymentshare is located on an iSCSI device connected to the server

    - The deployment server is runnung on ESXi4.0

    Any ideas??

    Thanks

  • Hi everybody,

i got it to work, but i really don't know what was the problem.

I have killed and reinstalled my server with 2008R2 with SP1.
Activated the Feature .Net Framework 3.5. Installed WAIK with Supplement for SP1.
Installed MDT2012x64. Then i have integrated DART. Activated the Monitoring for my DeploymentShare.

And it worked. Then i have installed SQL Express for my MDT Database.

The Monitoring Service has no description.

  •  Hi,

I had the same problem with monitoring. I read this :

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/mniehaus/archive/2012/05/10/troubleshooting-mdt-2012-monitoring.aspx

My problem was the proxy in IE.

    Now it's OK.

  • Hi Franck,

thanks for you answer. Last friday i have reinstalled my server and monitoring doesn't work again.

But your tip has solved my problem.

In my case the proxy settings in IE solved my problem.

    Thanks a lot!!

  • I am having an issue where when I go to http://localhost:9800/MDTMonitorEvent, I get an error service. endpoint not found. I restarted the service and disabled and enabled monitoring but same issue.

    Cheers

This is because you forgot to put the additional '/' at the end.  It must be http://localhost:9800/MDTMonitorEvent/ else you'll get the 'endpoint not found' message.
