Need to support RDP 8.1
-
Hello All,
I read one article about RDP 8.1 have supporting “session shadowing”. And below text I copied from acticle about RDP 8.1.
“The update allows Windows 7 clients access to some new Remote Desktop Connection features associated with Microsoft's newest operating systems, such as Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows 8.1, according to Microsoft's announcement. One of the more useful features for IT pros enabled by the update is support for "session shadowing," such as might occur when IT help desk personnel share a connection with an end user for troubleshooting purposes. With the update in place, IT pros can initiate session shadowing "from the command line on Windows 7 SP1 computers," according to the announcement.”

Hope to receive feedback from everybody soon.

Hi,
Sorry for my dilatory reply. Based on my test, you can use this feature in Windows 8.1 by the command below:
Access shadowing from the command line:
Mstsc.exe [/shadow:sessionID [/v:Servername] [/u:[Username]] [/control] [/noConsentPrompt]]
/shadow:ID Starts shadow with the specified sessionID.

Hi,
The Session Shadowing feature can be used when you host Remote Desktop Services on Windows Server 2012 R2. So if a user has a session to a shared session host running on Server 2012 R2 then now the administrator can shadow this session.
The command line parameters listed by Roger explain how to use this.
The Windows 7 RDP 8 client supports some of the RDP 8.x features but not all, you might need the Windows RDP 8.1 client from Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2 do use shadowing.

Hi Roger Lu,
May be you misunderstand my mean. I also tested it on Windows Server 2012 R2, I can use shadowing function on SRV 2012 R2. it's very fine. In this case my mean how can I use this function (shadowing) on windows 8, 8.1? For example, I'm IT helpdesk, (My computer running Windows 8.1) I remote to end user's PC (Running Windows 8) to troubleshoot and I want the end user can see what I do on them PC.
Besides that please help me to explain the below parameter. Could you give me an example if possible?
Mstsc.exe [/shadow:sessionID [/v:Servername] [/u:[Username]] [/control] [/noConsentPrompt]]
/shadow:ID Starts shadow with the specified sessionID.
Thanks for your attention. Hope to see you feedback again.

Hi,
I think you are looking for the Remote Assistance feature in Windows 8/8.1, for Windows 8/8.1 to Windows 8/8.1 you cannot use the shadow session option, this only works with a Remote Desktop Services session.
