Event ID ( 80 ) in Source ( DataTransformationServices ) cannot be found

    Question

  • I am trying to migrate a DTS package from a SQL Server 2000 installation to a new server running SQL Server 2005, I exported then imported the package onto the new server and setup a DTS job, it fails with Event ID:80, i've included the error from the Applicaitons log. I did install the DTS package for SQL server 2005. I don't know much about making DTS packages, so is there a way to dermine which task is failing? The execute steps don't match to the object names for each step in the 2000 designer.

This is still an open item, i got a reply but that didn't solve my problem.

  • Unfortunately, SSIS is not capturing enought information about the error, but I think it is very specific to what the 'DTSStep_DTSDataPumpTask' is trying to accomplish. Can you share more details (maybe an screenshot) or more details to try to figure out what could be happening?

I can't find this task with the description, 'DTSStep_DTSDataPumpTask_1' i am running the process from within the DTS builder on the old server, it takes a while to run, that is why i am migrating to a newer server, i will send more details when i get it.

  • I think the problem is related to a data connection your DTS package need to do but it cannot accomplish for some reason. It will help if you include a screenshot of your DTS package. If the error is by some compatibility between DTS and SSIS and depending on the complexity of your package, maybe you can consider to re-write it from scratch in SSIS.
