The backup/restore job failed because there is already another job scheduled. Delete the timer job from the Timer Job Definitions page, and then restart the backup/restore job.

    Question

  • ,

    hi,

am getting the below error message while i try to restore from a  back up in central admin ui :

i checked with the timer job defin but there is no job called backup/restore in the list.

how to take restore if i get this kind of error:

note: i have taken the content db backup from Sql Srvr mgmnt studio 2  hrs back.

so will this effect this  central restore operation?

  • hi,

    thanks for the reply

i mentioned in my post that, i already checkd the timer job defintions  page for this timer job.

but unfortunately, am not able to see the  timer job- backup/restore in that page.

is there any steps  am missing.

also i have taken the  ssms  backup-->  go to Content DB-->tasks-->backup

so in this way i ahve taken the backup of this content db--->abccc.bak file.

will this  step prevent me from taking the backup/restore from my CA?

  • HI,

I followed the below thread and tried to restore my  sitecollec.

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/es-ES/ab169c7e-d2ae-42b1-8325-86f303c3e910/restore-erro-sqlexception-the-operation-did-not-proceed-far-enough-to-allow-restart

    1. Using SQL Management Studio Restore the database backup (it should be "\\spserver-test\backups\spbr0004\000000234.bak" in my case) and call it the same name you used in the other farm (you can choose other name if you want as well)

    2. In cmd create a empty site collection in the new farm: stsadm -createsite -url http://myserver/sites/mysitecollection -owneremail yourname@yorcompany.com -ownerlogin domain\youruser

    3. In Central Administration | Application Management | Site Collection List select the newly created site collection and take note of the database name

    4. Detach the dummy content database: stsadm -deletecontentdb  -url  http://myserver/sites/mysitecollection -databasename <name-from-step-3>

    5. Attach the backup database: stsadm -o addcontentdb -url  http://myserver/sites/mysitecollection -databasename <name-you-chose-in-step-1>

used mount db command for attaching the content db

    Mount-SPContentDatabase -Name <ContentDatabaseName> -WebApplication <URL >

    and used

Dismount-SPcontentDatabase for  detaching the existing dummt  webapln  contentdb in the  sql.

but this process also failed  and giving me a different error:

so am confused  why this error came, now:

Mount-SPContentDatabase : This content database has a schema version which is n

because i have servers  source and destination machines having the same  version of SP 2010.

[ i have  upgraded the destination server to sp 2010 to SP 2010 SERVICE PACK1 ],yesday.

as my source server already was SP 2010 SP1.

  • One confusion, are you trying the backup and restore in same farm or backup from Farm A and than restore in farm b?

If its two different farm then make sure both farms are same patch level.

    hope this help.

  • Thanks waqas105,  for the reply.

i am trying to take the backup from on server and restore it in another  server.

say i have 2  servers 1) source server and am having anothr server  say (2) destination server.

    am sorry for the confusion.

today i checked again both machines' build versions, using  (get-spfarm).buildversion cmdlet.

    saw that both are different.

  • Great, than that's your problem. Both version should be same for backup and restore.

    thanks
