Documentation Components Failed

    Question

  • Hello,

I installed SQL 2012 SP1 on server 2012 Lab environment.

In the middle of installation the error : sql.cab is missing

I found on web that this error is related to corrupted media...

Clicked Cancel... Fortunately (or not :), the installation didn't rolled back but continued.

The Final result shows just one feature with Red Cross (Failed). It is Documentation Components.

Can I assume that the server is OK.

    YES or NO.... ??

I really don't care about Documentation Components if it's just HELP DOCs.

    Thanks.

  • Hello,

All components were installed successfully except Documentation Components, as you mentioned. You can use the other ISO to install the Documentation Components, if you want to have them. Unzip the ISO content into the local disk drive, and install from there the Documentation Components.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hello,

Please examine the Summary.txt log file to confirm all the other components were installed correctly. The following article may help you locate the file on disk:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143702(v=sql.110).aspx

alternatively, you can run the Discovery Report to see all SQL Server features successfully installed. Please read the following article to know how to run this report:

    http://www.sqlcoffee.com/SQLServer2012_0014.htm

    Hope this helps.

  • It might not be correct Installation, as already suggested above examine the summary.txt

Please refer to below link available in technet for SQL server 2008 R2, seems to be same issue but in older version.

  • Thank you very much for the answers.

Please see the Summary file and tell your opinion. The file reflects exactly the same info that I saw in GUI in final installation window.

I will try to reinstall SQL on the server on which I want to test SCCM2012. I will see if the documentation option is there. If yes I will just uncheck it.

I have the same ISO in other place. Worst case... I will load a new ISO.

But logically the only thing that is missing is DOCs and I am a bit confused about Server Books Online mentioned.
