WSUS automatically declining Exchange 2007 enterprise anti spam filter and ip block list updates

    Question

  • Exchange 2007 enterprise anti spam filter updates and block list updates show as "Declined" in WSUS All Updates searching for "Approval:Declined" and my exchange server is only getting exchange standard updates every two weeks. I did not automatically decline then enterprise updates in WSUS. Why are they showing up as declined? How do fix this so that my server is getting the enterpise anti spam updates?

    Thank you

  • Exchange 2007 enterprise anti spam filter updates and block list updates show as "Declined" in WSUS

There are only two ways an update can get declined:

    • A SUPERSEDED update that is not needed by any systems for at least 30 days will be declined by the Server Cleanup Wizard if a superseding update is approved.
    • A human being declines the update using the console or API.

  • I understan that. I have never declined the enterprise anti spam and ip block list updates yet they show declined in WSUS and my enterprise exchange server is not getting the updates. It is getting Exchange 2007 Standard anti spam and ip block list updates. How do I undecline the Enterprise Exchange anti spam and ip block list updates so my server will start getting those updates.

Then either they're already supersededed and the Server Cleanup Wizard declined them, and if they're superseded there's no point in unDeclining them, or somebody else DID decline them. It's really that simple.

Approve them for the group(s) they need to be approved for.

  • That is why I am perplexed because neither of those circumstances have occurred. I have not run the server cleanup wizard and I control the WSUS server no one else has access to it to they have not been manually declined.

I do have an automatic approval rule that automatically accepts Exchange 2007 server and above anti spam updates but that should not have any effect on the problem i am seeing.

Either way when i search WSUS for declined updates, It shows the enterprise anti spam filter and block list updates as declined and superseded by another update. Searching WSUS i cannot find any non superseeded Exchange 2007 antispam updates or block list updates that I can approve no matter how I search for them.

How do I un decline these, given these circumstances. Is ther a particular filter in WSUS that would expose these so i can aprove them?
