SQL Server 2012 Developer Edition and Licensing

    Question

  • Hi All,

We are trying to obtain licenses for SQL Server 2012 in development/test environment. We have 20 developers working in this environment. How do i purchase licenses for these 20 users

    1. 20 SQL Server 2012 Developer Edition Licenses (20 * $30 )

    OR

    2. 1 SQL Server 2012 Developer Edition License + 20 SQL Server 2012 CALS ( 1 * $30 + 20 * $150)

I have found the following information from SQL Server 2012 Licensing reference guide, but not sure which License he refers to

"The SQL Server 2012 Developer Edition is a full-function version of SQL Server software—including all of the
features and capabilities of the Enterprise Edition—licensed under the Developer Tools model, which is a “per
user” model. One license is required for each person that accesses or uses the software "

Also, The link from Ms site says that, Developer Edition is under Server + CAL Licensing model http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/sqlserver/get-sql-server/how-to-buy.aspx

    Thanks in Advance
