Windows Memory Diagnostic problem

    Question

  •

I am having a problem with the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool, but there does not seem to be an appropriate forum/thread for this post.  Can someone point me to the proper place to get an answer?

I am running XP Pro with no apparent problems.  I came across the Windows Memory Diagnostic and ran it to gain some experience with how it worked.  It produced errors on every test in the multiple tens of thousands on the memory stick in Bank 0, and then it froze on the Stride6 test, repeatedly, requiring a reboot.  I subsequently ran MemTest86 for several passes without any errors.  Is this a real problem because WMD is a more thorough test than other tools, or is it just an incompatiblity with my particular hardware?

The Windows Memory Diagnostic v .04 was downloaded from

    http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

The feedback/survey link on the page was broken and I can't find any way to communicate with the hardware group about this problem.

My hardware is plain vanilla, no overclocking or tweaking of any sort.
