Domain user continually logging in with TEMP profile

    Question

  • I have what appears to be a strange user profile problem.    When this user logs into his Windows 7 computer to the domain...all is fine.   He then RDPs to several servers.  Most login fine.  He, however, experiences a problem with one server where he continually logs in with a temporary profile.   I've never seen this before.   Since he doesn't have issues logging in to all the other servers, I'm thinking this is a local server login issue.   Any thoughts on where I should look?   In this server, his domain account is a member of the local administrator group.

  • Dear it seems that the user profile on this user is damaged or manually deleted from the Users folder. So Windows creates a Temp profile for this user each logon.

    To fix this issue:

    1. Open Registry Editor on the destination server (Run --> regedit.exe)

    2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\

and then delete the registry entry for the user's SID.

However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

  • It seems the issues is local to server only... as this User don't have any issues on other servers while login.
