Upgrade from 8 pro vl to 8.1 pro vl failing

    Question

  • im trying to upgrade my CEO's Desktop from Windows 8 VL to 8.1 VL and its repeatedly resulting in error 0x8007002C - 0x2000D

i have searched google and have seen many people get this error but the solution is quite instance specific, i have already uploaded the setuperr.log to zippyshare as below :

    http://www25.zippyshare.com/v/12201661/file.html

i require urgent assistance since this is the CEO's computer and he wants/needs to upgrade for ease-of-use and services failing under windows 8 and hoping patchs made to 8.1 will resolve his issues... Thanks !

  • Hi,

It seems that many errors show up in the log, before further analyzing, I suggest you try the instruction below first to narrow down the causes of the failed upgrade:

Generally root cause for the error code are anti-virus software conflicts and Hardware conflicts. Thus before upgrading, I suggest you disable virus protection, Wsreset windows store, remove 3 rd programs( if possible), unplug all the external devices except mouse and keyboard and keep all updates installed. Then try to upgrade again, if issue persists, again please upload the log here.

  • My AV Software is windows defender, do i still need to disable it??

Also removing 3rd party apps is not an option because it would result in about the same work as formatting the computer and make upgrading non-relevant since it would take less time to format-install 8.1 then upgrade from 8.

could you give me a full description of what Wsreset actually deletes or resets so i will know what changes this command will invoke??

Thank you very much for your time and assistance !
