Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 Coexistence and Outlook 2003

    Question

  • Hi,

I plan to deploy Exchange 2013 in coexistence scenario with Exchange 2007.

I have about 800 users and about 180 users that have Outlook 2003 client.

I know that Outlook 2003 is not supported with Exchange 2003.

I need to know exactlly when, during the transition scenario, Outlook 2003 client stop to work.

It this only when i switch my DNS name to  CAS Exchange 2013 ? Or before? Or only when the mailbox of the user is migrate on Echange 2013 Mailbox server?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Hi,
When you switch your DNS Name space, your Outlook 2003 will not be able to connect with Outlook Anywhere.A workaround there is to reconfigure their profile to use the legacy name space.

..and of course when you move their mailboxes to Exchange 2013, you will have some unhappy users.

No, not as long as their mailbox is still on Exchange 2003.
Problem with Outlook Anywhere YES, but not with MAPI.
