Installing free versions of Visual Studio C# and Biztalk Server 2010 Developer

    Question

  • Hi,

My understanding is I should be able to install a free developer version of BizTalk and i'm hoping i can learn some development from using a free version of Visual Studio 2010?  (Is this correct?)

I first installed Visual Studio C# express and then Biztalk Server 2010.  Biztalk setup cannot detect Visual Studio - and so I don't get the sdk etc. or templates inside of VS.  (Making biztalk developer kinda useless).

Am I doing something wrong here?  Should that work?

  • As per System Requirements for BizTalk Server 2010

Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 provides a development environment for rapidly building applications that target any device and integrate with any platform. This is required for the Developer Tools and SDK component of both BizTalk Server and BizTalk RFID. The Developer Tools and SDK component cannot be installed on Visual Studio 2010 Express Editions.

  • Hi Daisy,

As alternative you can download pre-configured VHD, which can download and it enables you evaluate Microsoft BizTalk Server 2010.
