SCRIPTED DIAGNOSTICS NATIVE HOST HAS STOPPED WORKING

    Question

  • I need urgent help. My computer freezes constantly now - and then pops up a message saying:

SCRIPTED DIAGNOSTICS NATIVE HOST HAS STOPPED WORKING

I installed the evaluation version (build 8250) months ago, and this problem has been happening now for a few weeks. It slows me down all day long while I'm working.

The solution in this thread (for Windows 7) didn't do anything for me.

The problems happens all day long while I am primarily using Google Chrome and NO other programs, and there doesn't seem to be anything in particular that triggers it.

    PLEASE HELP!

  • Hi,

Generally, there are the reasons below that may cause this issue.

    1. sdiagnhost.exe file is missing.

    2. sdiagnhost.exe is corrupted.

    3. Corruption in registry.

Please try SFC/scannow to check system files integrity first. If issue persists, you may try to copy the files listed below from Installation Disk to %windir%\system32.

    sdiageng.dll

    sdiagnhost.exe

    sdiagprv.dll.

    sdiagschd.dll

  • Thanks - I did the scannow and it found no errors. Then I tried to find the files you listed on the Windows 8 evaluation CD, and couldn't find the files. I searched and Windows couldn't find any of the files on the CD, and I also went through all the folders/files manually except for the sxs folder that has hundreds of other folders in it. Do you know where I can find the files to copy them over?

  • Hi,

These files are in the image file named install.wim on the Installation Disk. You need to use dism command to extract the files from this image file.

  • Build 8250 is very old. Try the 90 Day Trial of the RTM (Build 9200).
